Plant it Proud! Recycling 2010 in full swing.

Happy spring!

Thanks to our fabulous staff, Jim, Zach, Ion, Kerin and Jacqui, PLP is off to a fabulous recycling season.  We have collected over 13 (4x4x8’) pallets to date.  That’s over half of our total collection last year and it’s only June 12th!  A huge thanks to the  tremendous efforts of the team, volunteers and you (and your garden plastic).

Please remind friends to drop off garden plastic at either a farmers market or one of the participating nurseries.

See Calendar for locations and collection times.

See Recycle page for plastic example and details.

We are excited to announce PLP’s summer initiative, expansion of Farmington Hills curbside plastic recyclables to included #5 PP plastic!  This plastic is not sustainable.  We only need to look at the Gulf coast catastrophe to realize the urgency in curbing our petroleum appetite.  PLP will be collecting signatures of residents in Farmington, Farmington Hills, Novi, Southfield, South Lyon, Walled Lake, Wixom to show support of initiative and encourage our recycling center, The Recycling Authority, RRROSAC to recycle #5 Polypropylene (yogurt, sour cream, ricotta cheese, etc.) curbside.

Please come down to the Farmington farmers market June 26th and July 17th and show your support for local sustainability by signing our poll (and of course drop off your garden plastic for recycling).  Thanks! Happy planting,

Gina
