Peace, Love & Planet Family feature

The Levy family was one of five first-place winners for the April FAMILYFUN Volunteers Contest! First place winners received $500 to donate to the nonprofit of their choice.  PLP will use this funding to purchase a desperately needed recycling trailer to utilize at the farmers markets to streamline process.

We are very honored and happy to be recognized for our recycling initiative.  Garden plastic recovery is dirty, tiring work and I’m very proud of my husband and kids for all their support.  PLP’s strives to promote environmental awareness through youth programing and art.  By fostering green habits  children will grow up practicing conservation.  Our recycle initiative brings together our mission with community action.  It is our goal to encourage sustainability in the landscape and nursery industries by demonstrating how achievable it is with collaboration.  Read Recycle page for more information.

RECYCLE PLASTIC GARDEN POTS

The Levys of Northville, Michigan

Gardening is a litle greener now, thanks to Gina and Phil Levy and their kids, Sydney 7 and Hayden 5.  After learning that they couldn’t include plastic annual cells and pots in the curbside recycling.  The family teamed up with farmer’s markets and nurseries to collect 6,000 lbs. of plant containers for recycling by local manufacturer.  Their project bloomed into a family-run non-profit, Peace, Love & Planet, which also educates kids about environmental issues.
